I know I won’t make it until midnight, so I’m celebrating now. It’s only 7 p.m. but … it’s time to get my drink on. I’ve been de-holidazing the house; all that’s left are the trees and other random greens. The older kids are back to their lives and the house is quiet, not a creature is stirring, but the martini glass is being stirred.
While 2011 hasn’t been the best year globally, it certainly hasn’t been the worst personally. I’ve got many reasons to be thankful. And I’ve only two resolutions for the new year.
The first is to remember to KISS (keep it simple, Susan), though I can’t promise that my time in the kitchen will always be simple.
My second is borrowed from The Dahli Robinson (that I swiped from my friend Jennifer):
“The ‘New Year’ constitutes the passage of three seconds. 11:59:59 pm. 12:00:00 am and 12:00:01 m. Not much room for things to change. Life is made up of moments. The more we focus on the moment we are in, the more we will enjoy our lives and the blessings each moment brings. If we want to measure time in years, measure the moments we forgot to enjoy over the past year and resolve to enjoy more of them in the coming year. Peace, Joy and Health to all.”
That says it all. Enjoy more moments. I’m doing that right now with my Celebration Thyme martini.
