Chocolate Cherry Hazelnut Thumbprints

Chocolate Cherry Hazelnut Thumbprint CookiesIngredients:

  • 2 ½ c all-purpose flour
  • ¼ c unsweetened cocoa
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ c butter, softened
  • ½ c Nutella
  • 1 c granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla
  • cherry preserves
  • chopped hazelnuts 


  • Stir flour, cocoa, soda and salt in medium bowl.
  • In large mixing bowl beat butter and Nutella on high until mixed.
  • Add sugar and beat until combined, scraping sides as needed.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
  • Beat in as much of the flour mixture as possible using mixer.
  • Stir in remaining and mix with wooden spoon as needed.
  • Cover and chill, about 2 hours.
  • Shape  chilled dough into six logs, about ¾” in diameter.
  • Wrap in plastic and freeze 30minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Cut logs into 1/8” slices and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Press center of each slice with thumb.
  • Place a small amount of cherry preserves in depression.
  • Top with chopped hazelnuts.
  • Back 6-8 minutes or until edges are firm.
  • Transfer to wire rack to cool.
